Thank You for your Support!

The Innovator team truly appreciates your commitment to fostering groundbreaking advancements in medtech and life sciences and are excited to hear your thoughts on these companies!

Use this guide to assist in your account configuration and tips on how to review applications. For any questions, account issues, and requests please reach out to [email protected].

Overview & Timeline

Application reviews will take place from December through February. On average, we find that each application takes 10 - 20 minutes to score.

  • MedTech Innovator - 5 weekly assignments through late Jan/early Feb

  • BioTools Innovator - two batches of 15 assignments from December to February

  • MedTech Innovator APAC - 5 weekly assignments January through March

*please reach out if you prefer a smaller number of assignments

For MTI and APAC, apps assigned to your account will accumulate for 2 weeks at which point any incomplete evaluations will become expired and removed in order to ensure all applications are circulated and reviewed.

If you would review the Evaluator Onboarding/Orientation Calls, please see the links below:

...Now lets get started!

1. Setting Application Expertise & Interests

Designate your areas of expertise and interest and we will filter applications to find relevant matches best suited for you to evaluate. Interests are set per program that you are reviewing.

To get started, from your Innovator Pro dashboard, click on "expertise and interests" as show in the image below. Once set, your interests will appear on your dashboard.

If you choose not to set your interests, we will assign applications at random.

2. Finding your list of applications for review

For each program you have access to, you will see three numbers:

  • Available For Review - the total number of applications submitted for that program. Only sponsor organizations will have full access to these applications.

  • Assigned To You - all applications you have been assigned for this program year for that program.

  • Incomplete Assignments - the number applications that you have yet to evaluate.

From the Innovator Pro dashboard, click on the underlined numbers indicating your assigned applications.

Reviewing multiple programs? Access each program through the relevant dashboard card. Assignments are separated by program.

3. Viewing Application Details for review

Once you click on a number above, you'll navigate to the Application Review dashboard where you will see a grid/table of applications for review.

  • Filter application by Review Status for your convenience (screenshot below).

  • Expand the application details by using the arrow next to the company name.

4. Completing your Application Assignments

After expanding the Application for review, you will see Application Details on the left and Your Review panel on the right.

Your review will automatically save as you complete each question. You will see a confirmation pop-up notification at the top. Please confirm the autosave is working as intended before your first review. See the "Saved" green checkmark example below.

5. Unassign Applications (for apps you do not want to review)

If you see an application assignment that is not relevant, is a personal conflict of interest, or otherwise do not want to review then you can press the unassign button shown below in the "Your Review" grid.

Once clicked, you'll be prompted for your reason of unassigning and you can choose to replace it with a new application which will be automatically added to your dashboard.

Tips for Completing Meaningful & Valuable Reviews

Please do your best to complete all of the multiple choice options in the scoring section. If there is a question that you do not feel informed enough to answer, please do not answer it. Use the metrics below as a guide to keep in mind when reading applications.

IMPORTANT: Your answer to the questions: “Is this in your company’s areas of interest” & "Should this company should be selected to pitch in-person" will inform our decision about whether the company is invited to pitch in-person or online.

Let us know if you were previously aware of the company. This helps us benchmark the utility of the MedTech Innovator program in identifying new opportunities.

Provide some insight into why you think the company should advance to the next round or not. Your answer may address what you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the opportunity.

If there is additional information that you feel is needed to make a decision, please fill that information in the Additional Information box.

Provide any feedback or advice you have for the company. We will share these comments anonymously with the company.
